The tool, named PlanGrid, allows Focus staff to centralize key project information, tasks and reporting across all current projects being worked on.
The innovative software supports Focus's Quality Management Programme on site, allowing the team to upload photographs, instructions and documents for all parties to access remotely including clients, staff, subcontractors, consultants and architects. Any issues which need following up during construction can be photographed and emailed with a directive to the relevant individual and remain ‘live’ in the system until completed.
PlanGrid’s unique reporting system enables Focus’s project team to call on a range of reports, helping to keep track of progress and ensure the project is meeting all of its programme deliverable dates.
In these reports we can identify individual variations or issues which need following up. As well as uploading a photograph and description of the issue, we can tag the location of it on the site floorplan before emailing through to the relevant individual for follow up.
Our RFI reports clearly detail any information required by our team in order to progress work. Listed numerically, each RFI is tagged with date submitted and contact assigned to and as with all PlanGrid reports we send directly via email from within the platform for a timely response.
Focus Construction Group Director and Construction Manager Nick Whittaker explains, “We’ve had a great response from our clients since we started using PlanGrid. Being able to share information, maintain progress and ensure quality are key aspects of every construction project and this tool has improved our ability across all of these.”
As a project moves towards final inspections, PlanGrid is used to create completion lists that clearly identify any outstanding construction issues. The Focus Project Managers then work with the relevant trades to address these, ensuring the project not only meets its deadline, but is finished to specification and is free of any defects.
