BOTANY LIBRARY RELOCATION FITOUT

Botany Library Relocation Fitout

Description of work:

  • Relocation of Botany Library on Level 2 of Botany Town Centre, to create an upgraded, fit-for-purpose space for the community’s library users.
  • Along with the fitout works for this new space, Focus’ works included strip out and de-fit of the existing library, including moving some of the furniture, fixtures & equipment to the new space.
  • The design incorporated new areas and equipment, including a ‘Showcase’ area, ‘Peaceful Place’, ‘Focus’ meeting room space, children’s and teens’ areas and a multi-purpose makerspace room.
  • The general collection, seating and computers for public use were also upgraded and included in the new space.

Special features:

  • With the construction site being in the middle of a public space, there were strict rules for access to the site to minimise risk and disruption to the public. For example, deliveries and load-ins could only take place very early in the morning when the shopping centre was quieter, and worker access during the day was via the rear stairs only.
  • Specialty wall-hung shelving was relocated to the new library, an excellent way to create additional space for books.
