Rangitoto College English Block Remedial Works, Mairangi Bay

Description of work:

Extensive remedial works carried out to address significant weathertightness issues across the English Block
The large block is comprised of 18 classrooms under nine separate roofs
As well as replacing the cladding, roofs, eaves, flashing and gutters, Focus removed and reinstalled over 100 windows across the 24-year-old building.

Special features:

This large site had multiple other building users nearby while works were carried out – Focus’ priority needed to be on Health & Safety
Careful planning required for regular movements of site fencing, signage and construction workers & vehicles to maintain access routes for the school.

With such a large site with so many other people nearby, Focus’ priority needed to be on Health & Safety to ensure our activities did no harm to students, staff or visitors. This was a complex task that required planning for the regular relocation of site fencing and signage (to maintain access routes for the school), and also required consistently reminding our site staff of their responsibilities within an operational school.
