TAKANINI LIBRARY & COMMUNITY HUB FITOUT

Takanini Library & Community Hub Fitout

Description of work:

  • Interior fitout of a 660m2 new build, to create a new multi-purpose facility including library, community rooms and kids’ area.
  • The Ground Floor facility consists of a Social & Study Zone, Café & Social Zone, Kids’ Zone, Computer / Quiet Zone, Consultants’ Room and Activity Rooms, Parents’ Lounge, Staff Areas and staff and public bathrooms. The mezzanine floor includes a slide that ends in the Ground Floor Kids’ Zone.
  • Fitout included internal windows and doors; ceiling, wall & floor finishes; FF&E (including ICT); mechanical, electrical and plumbing services; and mezzanine ceiling, wall and floor finishes to the kids’ area.

Special features:

  • Focus began the fitout works to the facility while the base build contractor was still completing their works. This meant careful Health & Safety and logistics management was required while there were more contractors onsite.
  • As fitout contractor, Focus was required to install the window artwork, which were specially designed in collaboration with mana whenua. Additionally, signage for the facility was also installed by Focus, and a book return slot was installed into the existing glazed wall.
